Join our experts as they go in-depth on dental identification work. They look at everything from working with INTERPOL on mass disasters, to the cold case known as The Woman from Ice Valley.

Real cases
Our host Simen Kopperud is a dentist and forensic odontologist with the Norwegian Armed Forces, as well as a Senior Scientist at NIOM. He is joined by Associate Professor Sigrid Kvaal, who has been in the field for more than 30 years.
Kvaal has worked on most major disasters, like the Scandinavian Star and the 2004 Tsunami. She has also worked many cold cases, and will talk about other aspects of forensic odontology as well.
Showing how it is done
The pair will take us through how an examination is perfomed, with the help of an actual skull. We see the real-life forms, and learn the lingo.
They will also answer questions like “how can dental biomaterials contribute to identification of human remains?” and “what challenges comes with the caries free generation?”
