The purpose of NIOM's visiting scientist program is to enhance Nordic collaboration on dental biomaterials research. NIOM funds positions available for periods between 3 and 6 months. Scientists working in the Nordic countries, with documented education and/or research experience in the field of biomaterials, are welcome to apply. PhD students and young scientists are especially encouraged to apply.

The institute's research activities focus on biological, chemical, physical, and clinical questions related to dental and other biomaterials. The applicant's project must align with the research profile of NIOM (see “Research areas” for a more detailed description). Collaboration with NIOM staff is mandatory. The program for each calendar year is advertised in May of the preceding year, with the application deadline in June.

Research stays at NIOM

Scientists in the field of biomaterials with funding from other institutions are welcome to work at NIOM for longer or shorter periods in order to collaborate with NIOM staff. NIOM maintains the laboratory facilities and may support direct research expenses. PhD candidates and master students are also welcome to do parts of or the entire research project at NIOM.

You are welcome to ask questions about how NIOM can assist you with your research, research supervision, or if you have a project idea that you need help bringing to life. Potential partners are asked to contact Professor & CEO, Per Vult von Steyern.
