Oscar Daniel Rangel Huerta holds a PhD in Biochemistry and has a strong focus on bioinformatics, with particular expertise in metabolomics and multi-omics data integration. He is currently at NIOM for a three-month research stay.
At NIOM, Rangel is working on a pilot project to establish a pipeline for metabolomics analysis in oral cells. The aim is to capture a detailed snapshot of cellular metabolism, providing insight into small molecules such as amino acids, organic acids, and fatty acids.
“I detected many areas of opportunity to apply metabolomics at NIOM, and I decided to take the chance to contribute and learn,” he says.
Rangel’s stay is made possible through his collaboration with NIOM senior scientist Silvio Uhlig. During his time at the institute, he hopes to contribute with his expertise while also learning more about the wide range of research NIOM is engaged in.
So far, he highlights the welcoming environment at NIOM and is looking forward to developing new knowledge and generating valuable results during his stay.
