Meet some of our lecturers
Our lecturers are dedicated to integrating their practical, real-world experiences into the course, offering students authentic insights into the subject matter. Meet some of our exceptional employees and learn more about their projects, publications, and background.

Mina Aker Sagen
With background as a specialist in prosthetic dentistry, Mina Sagen, holds lectures about materials in a clinical perspective. Her main lecture topics are ceramics and their clinical application, focusing on material selection for different indications, abutment preparation, cementation, adjustments and complications.
Since Mina started at NIOM in 2021, she has held lectures on Scandinavian dental conferences, for Norwegian dental associations and university students. She has also participated in hands-on training of dental technician students.

Per Vult von Steyern
“For many years Per Vult von Steyern has successfully conducted research on ceramic materials and their applications in modern dentistry. He is an esteemed lecturer who, with enthusiasm and compelling interest, has trained students and dental professionals in prosthetic dentistry and materials science. Through his efforts he has successfully built bridges between clinical and dental technology activities and created increased understanding between different categories of dental professionals.”
- Henry Beyron's Award in Prosthetic dentistry for scientific efforts, 2018

Aida Mulic
Aida Mulic holds lectures within the fields of cariology, with the main topics being pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of dental caries and dental erosions. In addition, focus on minimal intervention dentistry is an important area of interest and lecturing.
Aida is a recognised lecturer, and has held many presentations on Scandinavian and European dental conferences, as well as for Norwegian dental associations. She teaches dental and dental hygienist university students, and holds lectures for post graduate- and PhD students.

Asbjørn Slagtern Fjellvåg
Asbjørn Slagtern Fjellvåg is a materials scientist and lecturer at NIOM. His teaching focuses on how the atomic structure of materials influences their properties, including mechanical strength and optical behaviour.
His expertise forms the basis of his lectures at NIOM, where he introduces participants to fundamental principles of materials science and how these principles relate to modern material development and characterisation.

Siamak Eqtesadi
Siamak Eqtesadi is a Senior Scientist and lecturer at NIOM with extensive experience in materials science and engineering. His lectures draw on nearly twenty years of research in advanced materials, with particular expertise in ceramics, composites and additive manufacturing.
Siamak holds a PhD from the University of Extremadura, Spain (2015), where he specialised in 3D printing of ceramic and glass scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. He has also led several EU funded research projects focused on the development of graphene based materials for biomedical and technological applications.
At NIOM, he teaches key principles of materials processing, microstructure and mechanical properties, and how these factors influence the performance of modern materials.

Frode Staxrud
Frode Staxrud is a Senior Scientist and lecturer at NIOM specialising in clinical dentistry and conservative treatment approaches. His lectures focus on principles of minimal intervention dentistry, including the use of resin based composites and adhesive materials for restorative treatments.
Frode holds a DDS and a Dr. Philos. degree and has extensive experience in research and teaching related to cariology and restorative dentistry. His work particularly examines the quality, repair and longevity of direct and indirect restorations.
In addition to his work at NIOM, he serves on the advisory board of the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD).
