ISO/TC 194 Biocompatibility

The concern about health and safety aspects connected to medical devices has initiated a work for developing “biocompatibilitystandards”. Again ISO has taken the lead with ISO/TC 194 Biocompatibility of medical and dental devices developing a set of standards and CEN/TC 206 transforming them to EN´s and thus national standards in Europe. Experts from NIOM have actively participated in this work as well as the development of the special dental “biocompatibility - standard”, ISO 7405.
