NIOM studies as background for BBC programme

A programme on BBC Radio 4 has discussed the use of aluminium bronze as a dental casting alloy. The problem with such alloys is that, while they look like dental gold, they corrode more readily and release metallic elements to a much greater degree than other dental alloys.  Studies from NIOM and from our guest researcher Berit Ardlin (Umeå) are cited. DDS Mustafa Murat Mutluay who has carried out his experimental work of his dissertation at NIOM will give his trial lecture and defend his thesis for “Philosphiae Doctorem” (PhD) at the Universty of Oslo, Dental Faculty.

The subject of his thesis is “In vitro and in vivo studies on soft and hard denture lining materials ”
The title of his trial lecture is "Denture re-lining - a sign of failure of  conventional dentures or a genuine adjunct to treatment "

Carl Hjortsjö who has carried out some of his experimental work at NIOM shall defend his thesis for “Philosphiae Doctorem” (PhD) at the Universty of Oslo, the Dental Faculty.

The subject of his thesis is “Studies on the effect of hydrofluoric acid in prevention of early dental erosion”
