NETTVERKSKONFERANSEN 2024

Målet med konferansen er å samle videreutdanningskandidater, stipendiater og forskere til nettverksbygging og til å presentere forskning på tvers av de ulike institusjonene som arbeider innen feltet oral helse.

Season’s greetings from NIOM

Season’s greetings from NIOM

This year has been an exciting one, both personally and for NIOM. I have taken the reins as the new CEO, and as a company, we continue to ensure that dental biomaterials are safe and effective in the Nordic countries. Research has always been a major obligation for...

Insights into the impact of irrigation on endodontic sealers

recent study from NIOM entitled “Endodontic sealers after exposure to chlorhexidine digluconate: An assessment of physicochemical properties” was published in Dental Materials. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of 2% chlorhexidine digluconate (CHX) on the physicochemical properties of three widely used root canal sealers: AH Plus, BioRoot™ RCS, and Pulp Canal Sealer (PCS).

Zirconia dental implants; the relationship between design and clinical outcome: A systematic review

This systematic review has found promising five-year clinical outcomes for one-piece zirconia implants with no difference between different diameters and lengths. Concerning surface roughness, better outcomes have been found when using the acid-etched design. However, further high-quality clinical studies comparing zirconia one-piece and two-piece implants with different diameters, lengths, and surface roughness are needed.

Validation of a human saliva model for the determination of leachable monomers and other chemicals from dental materials

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to compare the performance of a saliva model with that of native unstimulated saliva for studying the leakage of chemicals from dental polymers. We observed statistically different leaked concentrations between the unstimulated saliva and artificial saliva for some of the BisEMA homologues in up to 50 % of the test specimens, whereas there was no difference during the spiking trials…….

NIOM TESTED

NIOM has established a programme for the quality evaluation of a number of dental products. The evaluation is based on testing of the products according to methods in relevant ISO and other standards, or according to other well-established and documented test methods. Products fulfilling the set requirements are granted permission to use the NIOM TESTED quality seal. The NIOM TESTED quality seal confirms that the product meets the requirements specified by NIOM.
